Welcome, 2009!
Posted on 05 Jan 2009 by jevie
Hi! It's been, what, almost three weeks since my last post? Well, my planned leave for Manila on the 29th was moved to the 25th so I wasn't even given the chance to do my farewell post or something.

So.. What happened in Manila? The typical --- shopping, mall hopping, seaside sight seeing, doing chores, getting lost, being independent, etc. My brother and I stayed at my Aunt's house in Pandacan. That explains the 'doing chores' and 'being independent part'. Getting me lost was something my evil twin cousin (Drea --- I love you! Haha) had been planning on for weeks ever since she found out that I'll be spending the holidays there. Haha.

The real fun was in Laguna. We rented a private resort (Villa Leonor, I think) with the hot-spring pool, the playground, the freezing bedrooms (lol) --- just imagine the 'own home away from home' feel. As a whole, the place was beautiful. Of course, since it was my first time there, I was mesmerized. My cousins, on the other hand, were always there so they didn't really appreciate it as much as I did. :))

That was on the 30th. Rizal day. We were supposed to go to the Rizal Shrine (since we were already in Calamba), but the weather wasn't cooperating at all, so we went there on the 31st. My last visit to the Rizal Shrine was almost a decade ago, so it was like my first time there all over again. Since I'm currently taking up Rizal's Life and Works, I thought it would be a good thing to visit his house and get extra data. Unfortunately, every detail given there were all in Zaide's book. Happy me *insert sarcastic eye roll here*.

PROJECTS FOR 2009!
The promised class profile --- will be out SOON. I'm polishing the details and creating Class Conversations vol. 3.
The novel I've been telling you about for ages --- I found my handwritten draft! Yay! Unfortunately, it's only about 45% of what I already had on my computer (which was corrupted). But it's a good starter. I reread it two nights ago and I was so confused with the storyline and about who's who. Haha.
New site look --- tired of Misa Amane? :D

I'll try to update that list. :p

It's about time

I haven't posted in AGES! First of all, advance Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! Second, have you heard of Twilight Pinoy version? I think this is too much Pinoy imitation. I'm trying my best to be neutral, but GAH I can't help it. This is too much. TOO MUCH.

Anyway, yesterday was Talafangks bonding time. It's been a year since all of us were together --- usually it's just the four of us (either Mayne or Pao isn't present). It was a day of pure nonsense, mischief, laughter, and vanity. We went to Mapa's place for lunch, then to the mall to USE THE BATHROOM, then went to Pao's place for a 'horror' movie marathon. 'Horror' because the movies were jokes. They weren't even blockbusters. I don't know why we chose that. Haha. I think it was Hotel626 that scared the living hell out of me instead of those movies. Oh yeah, Mayne owns an SLR!!! How cool is that? We took hundreds (literally) of crazy photos in succession, so they're all really funny. But the best part was when Mapa showed us the original NM (Neon Messenger = this is where we used to put our thoughts and life drama when we were in 3rd year high school). All of us laughed back at the memories and 'Emo' posts we had --- especially Mayne's post (imagine pure Tagalog cheesy lines!). Hahaha.

Advance Happy Birthday:
December 24 - SAEDNE SHANE ROGANDO (I lost her number. Sigh.)
December 26 - MAYRELL ANN MONDA (Yay! Another Talafangks day! Such a lola. :D Peace! XD)
December 27 - KIRK PATRICK LOPEZ (Dada Kirk I miss you!)

End.

YESTERDAY
Posted on 10 Dec 2008 by jevie
"Fernandez?" I read my surname with uncertainty, clutching the list of students so hard that I felt it cripple around the edges.
"You're career-oriented," Gerard, Sheena, Arlene, Sarah, and Jovic all agreed.

Yesterday, we were quite bored with our lives so we raised the question, 'who will be the first to get married in our class?' just for fun. No one in our class was safe from our so-called predictions since we had a list (and alphabetically arranged, mind you). When we finally crossed my name, they perceived me as someone who's too career-oriented to think of love.

And I don't know if they're right. There are times that I admit being too self-centered to only think of MY future, but I also admit being a hopeless romantic - I think it's a good balance. Let's move on, shall we? Why think of the future when you can enjoy the present?;)

---x--x--x--- (I do this thing a lot in my notes)

I may have a short attention span, but I'm sure I'm quite observant. These are the things I observed (and realized) about life:
- We LEARN from our own mistakes, as well as those of others. Once is enough; committing the same mistake twice is mere stupidity.
- First love dies. Some may disagree with me, but majority would agree. First love, in my opinion, is a mistake. Don't react negatively - remember, a while ago I mentioned that we learn from our mistakes. It's true. I learned from mine.
- Your first love is not your first boyfriend/girlfriend - it happens. And I'm telling you that from experience. My first boyfriend was never my first love - he's the nth; where n=a number I won't tell you. This makes moving on easy (you've had a harder time).
- The best pieces of love advice come from the people who are inexperienced. Ironic but true.
- There is no such thing as an ideal society. I've been listening to our SocSci3 (correct me if I'm wrong) class. :D

Reality Check
Posted on 29 Nov 2008 by jevie
Originally, I intended to post Class Conversations vol. 3, but I lost my list so I guess I have to make a new one. So, this post will be another senseless addition to my blog.

I'm depressed. Really. I have reasons - one shallow, and one completely irrational. The former is about pictures and the latter is about... stuff. Unforgivable stuff, perhaps. No, I did not commit any crime against the Constitution, but I'm sure it would trigger something psychological. I guess I have to elaborate it more on Multiply (contacts-only). I need comments and support, so it's better there. I don't get much comments here, and I'm well aware of that.

I... don't know what else to say. Does this blog sound Emo? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I just have a lot of other issues in my head and it's killing my conscience bit by bit. I'm getting restless. I wake up almost every hour during my sleep and I'm sure I only get approximately five hours of sleep everyday. People notice my stress, giving me comments like "Pumayat ka", "Grabe na pimples mo", "What happened to your eyes? Laki na ng eyebags ha", "Tulala ka nanaman.", "Low gets ka nanaman", and a whole lot more. I even try to put on a bubbly facade yet they still think something's wrong. And they're right.

I should have listened to Gerard and Karen in the first place. But... Oh well. I'll be strong and fight until the bitter end. Alibis are my closest friends til then.

After all, life's just full of challenges. Face it. Learn it. Love it.

At a Loss for Words
Posted on 27 Nov 2008 by jevie
I never thought I'd encounter someone whose wit would mesmerize me at such an intensity. I never thought someone's work could make me fall in love with this language. The way he used his words, the way he would narrate the events, the way he makes his points so easily understandable... He amazes me with his wit.

But don't get me wrong. I've never been an avid reader of his blog (in fact, I read it for the first time just minutes ago). It's a long story as to how I found it, but to cut it short, Jonalyn's the one who gave it to me. Honestly, I'm never the type who'd read something they call interesting just because they say it's interesting (part of it is pure laziness, though). So what happened today was a miracle.

Amazingly, I had nothing to do for tomorrow. So I did my normal online routine and found another one of Jo's "READ HIS BLOG NOW" comments, as well as text messages saying the same thing. I had nothing to do, so why not?

And now, I'm deeply mesmerized. I call it the Kuya Nick effect. Who is this person we're fond of calling Kuya Nick? His identity must remain a secret (Jonalyn will kill me. Period). Of course you may assume that I am entering a certain level of stupidity to give his nickname away - well, only our circle of friends know of this code name. Nick's not even a part of his real name. :)

Oh, and another thing: I'm not in love with Kuya Nick (but Jo is :D).

I'm just stunned by his wit.

Second Semester

Do I need an intro? I'm sure you have common sense - if it really is that common. And, don't expect much. I mean, c'mon! This is BU (Sometimes I think I'm becoming ungrateful. Oh wait, I AM).

Monday. I went to school, talked to friends, pretended to listen, and went home again.
Tuesday. Same.
Wednesday. Same.
Thursday. Same.
Friday. Same.

Between those lame activities, however, I managed to squeeze eating snacks, attending meetings, filing for the scholarship, researching, gossiping, blinking breathing, and thankfully - thinking.

Now some of you may assume that this next paragraph is about thinking. I'm sorry. I don't follow those rules in my blog. Instead, I'll be boasting my grades:
Economics - 1.9
ICT - 1.4
Filipino - 1.4
Speech Communication - 1.4
Journalism - 1.1
Philippine Literature - 1.5
Philippine Constitution - 1.6
PE - 2.1

In BU, 1.0 is the highest, 3.0 is the passing, and 5.0 means you really, really failed. So given these grades, I have a GWA of 1.5262. That's only 0.0262 away from that 75% scholarship. No thanks to PE. My first 2, and a 2.1 at that. And of all the subjects... It's PE! There's an issue behind that though, and the letter to the president is only a print away! (I'm not really ungrateful, I think BU is great, but there are instances that I wish I would've taken that slot in UP.)

I'd tell you EVERY misfortune we (friends and I) had with BU. but I'm sure this blog doesn't have enough space. Maybe I'll publish a novel someday. Something like Harry Potter. Beginning from our first semester (first year) alone would probably be as thick as the Order of the Phoenix.

You know, I really had a hard time squeezing stuff from my brain, so I would really appreciate comments. Commenting without an account is now possible.

PS: Nico, I know you don't (and probably won't) comment here, but I know you read this blog (judging by the amount of criticism and word-of-mouth-comments I get from you). So I have a message to you about my grades: I know you have a higher GWA, so don't rub it in. -.-

PPS: Sorry I haven't been updating this. I enjoyed blogging with Multiply (contacts-only though) lately, primarily because I have far more comments there than on my own personal site-turned-blog. o_O

High School Barkada Bonding
Posted on 30 Oct 2008 by jevie
Actually, it was Joanna's 18th birthday celebration in Bicol (she had a different celebration in Manila). Talk about RICH kid. Haha. Anyway, it was held at the Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC). Unfortunately, there were only 10 (out of the 24) of us there. Pure female bonding. Hahaha. Actually, I don't know where to start, but here goes:

2:00 pm - Leave for CWC. Meeting place at Joanna's house.
4:15 - Arrive at CWC, check-in, change into swim wear, etc
6:00 - Swimming, picture-taking, beginning of F-U-N. lol
8:00 - Dinner.
10:00 - Stroll around CWC, had a couple of drinks, watched Kuya Pao (correct me if I'm mistaken) do some magic tricks, gossiped, laughed at corny jokes, tried to tell scary stories which ended up as comedy, well, pretty much fooling around.
12:15 AM - Back to trailer, gossiped, showered and prepared for bed.
1:00 - Fooled around with kuya Pao and his vodka. He played rock, paper, scissors with Cicar (if cicar wins, he drinks, v.v.). Cicar lost 3 out of 5. LOL. (note: I've tasted a lot of different brands of vodka before, and his was the weirdest. I think I drank acetone or something. Ugh.) Imagine how Cicar felt LOL!
2:30 - Everyone finished showering and well, what do you expect, more gossip xD
3:00 - Almost everyone was asleep except Janice, Trixia, Gwen, Ainna and I.
3:15 - Janice, Gwen and I fell asleep
3:30 - I woke up LOL
3:35 - gossiped with Trix and Ainna. (We were the only ones awake) Haha.
4:00 - We tried to go outside, but the door was locked and Ate Zoe had the keys -.-
4:30 - Ate oranges (and take note!) inside the bathroom LOL
4:45 - Played games using Jo's PSP
5:00 - Watched the sunrise through the window in the bathroom xD
5:45 - Ate Zoe woke up. YAY!!!
6:00 - Stroll around CWC... Yep, just the three of us.
6:30 - back to the trailer to get some $$$.
7:00 - burnt my tongue with hot choco.
7:30 - everyone woke up, breakfast and prepare for take-off xD
9:00 - finished preparing, more picture taking
9:30 - leave for Legazpi
11:30 - arrive at Jopi's house and gossiped. hahaha
12:00 PM - leave for home
12:15 - I arrived home and fell asleep.

And when I woke up at about 3PM, I had a monster headache. Now it's gone and in it's place is a cough and cold combination. I should've slept more last night, even if it meant sleeping on the floor. xD But all in all, I had a blast. Of course I couldn't put every single detail, but I'll grab some pictures from Ivy and Jo and let you see how fun it was. ;)

Advance Happy Halloween... and Happy 20th (TWENTIETH) Birthday, Arvin! (^____^)v. Sorry for giving emphasis on your age.

It's good to be back!

After a month of procrastinating, I'm finally finished with fixing errors. I haven't double checked some of the links, so if you encounter some dead links, please inform me. :)

I'm sure I've mentioned something about skinning this website months ago, and I'm sorry that I still haven't done that yet. I'm very impatient when it comes to tutorials, so I hope you understand. :P

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this week. I'm sure it'll be a blast:
Monday - I'm not really sure if I'll be doing anything tomorrow, but spontaneity's always with me these past few days.
Tuesday - Enrollment. It's been a class tradition to watch movies/celebrate right after enrollment. But who knows what'll happen anyway.
Wednesday - 29th!!! I'm off to CWC with HS buddies for Joanna's 18th birthday celebration.
Thursday - Since the celebration is overnight, we're probably just on our way back to Legazpi. If I still have enough strength, I'll watch my brother, TJ, perform for the Ibalong Street Presentation.
Friday - Arvin's birthday. Who knows what he'll do. Hahaha. Oh, and Happy Halloween!

Grades. Grades. Grades. So far I've got 1.1, 1.4, and 1.9 in Journ11, Fil3, and Economics respectively. I'm waiting for Philippine Constitution, Philippine Literature, Speech Communication, PE3, and ICT. I'm not sure about my PE3. Anyway, I'm hoping it wouldn't ruin my 1.(something) streak. And it's PE for God's sake!
